Humiliates Bugatti – new V16 engine has 5,000 horsepower

Devel Sixteen is a monster in many ways. The car's 12.3-liter V16 engine has over 5,000 horsepower and as many as four turbos.

The Devel Sixteen is and was a car many doubted would ever materialize. But now it actually stands here.

Beneath the dramatic exterior, it is virtually identical to the current Corvette C8. At least technically. And yet.

Because the Devel Sixteen is hiding something that the Corvette can only dream of. Namely twice as many cylinders. Specifically, the engine is a V16 affair with over 5,000 horsepower.

To be precise, Devel Motors UAE, which is behind the car, which has reportedly been in production since 2022, says there is 5,076 horsepower to come.

This is due, among other things, to a displacement of 12.3 liters and four turbos. The latter has the engine in common with the retired V16 from Bugatti.

The engine was built by Steve Morris, who lives in the US state. And if you ask him, it hasn't been easy – or for that matter – cheap fun.

– People might think that these special engines can be built for 100,000 dollars. It's impossible, all projects like this are astronomically expensive.

– I build for a tenth of the big brands. And it's still a million dollar deal for me, says Steve Morris according to Auto Motor und Sport .

How many examples of the Devel Sixteen will be built by Devel Motors UAE varies a bit depending on who you ask. However, the first car to hit the roads in 2022 had 'only' 2,000 horsepower and half as many cylinders.
