Tesla recalls 1.85 million cars with critical defect

Tesla is currently recalling 1.85 million cars worldwide because there is a risk that the 'boiler helmet' could fly up into the windscreen.

On a large number of Tesla models, there is a risk that the flap to the front luggage compartment may fly up into the windscreen.

This is what the US traffic authorities, NHTSA, writes, according to the financial media Bloomberg .

According to the media, Tesla was initially made aware of the problem in March. But it is only now that the recall is sent out.

These are models, Model 3, Model S and Model X, which were produced in the period 2021 to 2024. Model Y, which is Denmark's most popular car, is also affected.

This concerns cars that were built between 2020 and 2024. That is, this year. The recall is due to the fact that a fault has been found in the locking mechanism which holds the flap to the front luggage compartment down.

If the error occurs, the flap can fly up into the windscreen, shatter the glass and, in the worst case, block the driver's view.

It is not the first time that Tesla has had to recall cars in the millions. Back in December 2023, a bug had crept into the autopilot function of more than two million cars. Read more about it here .
