The Tesla Roadster is already 5 years late

If Elon Musk and Tesla keep their word and there is talk of a launch in 2025, the new Roadster will be 'only' five years late.

The Tesla Roadster is already too late for it. In fact, if the car comes to fruition in 2025, as Tesla now says, it is a full 5 years late.

Tesla fans have been waiting for a new version of the Roadster, which was the brand's first car, ever since the American brand showed the first concept in 2017.

At the time, Elon Musk said that it would be possible to start production in 2020. Now we are soon writing August 2024. And nothing has happened yet. Time and again, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has jumped to the defense of the car, which is not yet on the road.

– The only way to make something cooler than the Cybertruck is to combine SpaceX and Tesla technology to create something that isn't even really a car, he has previously said.

Now, according to Electrek, Tesla claims in the quarterly accounts that the car will be in production in the course of next year. So a full 5 years after the car was actually promised.

On the other hand, Tesla has talked about both a price of 200,000 and 250,000 dollars and a 0 to 100 km/h time of less than 2 seconds. However, all information about the final price has disappeared from Tesla's website.

The only thing that actually smells a little like production is a deposit of 5,000 dollars, which must be paid the same day that the reservation for a Roadster is placed with Tesla. No later than 10 days later, Tesla will have an additional 45,000 dollars for the car. Altogether, it is 344,000 Danish kroner.

The car is not that cheap. Nor in markets outside Denmark, where motorists are not hit with high registration fees. Because yes, even electric cars over DKK 436,000 are subject to registration tax in Denmark. And in 2035, according to the current plans, there will be no tax rebate at all for electric cars.
