Mazda has a new logo – can you tell the difference?

You have to be a Mazda connoisseur or look really hard. But the Japanese believe that they have got a new logo.

It happens from time to time that car brands change their logos. It has now happened at Mazda. At least that's what the brand says.

However, the changes are so small that – at least at first glance – they are very difficult to spot. It is also unknown when the new logo will even find its way onto the brand's cars.

If you look closely, however, you can see that the new logo, which Mazda has used in one form or another since 1997, has become far less detailed.

However, the new logo has already been registered and approved as the trademark in Mazda's home market of Japan.

However, Mazda is not the first to think in the direction of a simpler logo. Both BMW and Audi have created a flatter logo in recent years. So have the Americans. Among others Buick and Cadillac.

Opel, which until 2017 was owned by American General Motors, has even started with the flatter logo. It happened back in June 2023, when the so-called 'blitz', which is just a 'z', was redesigned. Opel believes it gives them a sharper profile.

Back at Mazda, Motor1 points out that there is also a possibility that the car brand has reserved the new logo. In other words, it must only be used on electric cars. In any case, the Japanese showed off the logo on an electric SUV called Arata in connection with the Auto China car show in Beijing in April 2024.
