Recalls cost Ford 175 million kroner a day

It's not just electric cars that are a loss-making business for Ford. The car brand loses DKK 175 million on recalls every single day.

Every single day over the past three months, Ford has lost 175,000,000 kroner. And that's just on recalls.

It is Ford's own accounts for the most recent quarter that reveal the enormous loss. Ford spends the money either on recalls or warranty cases.

In total, 2.3 billion dollars, equivalent to 15.8 billion kroner, have gone into that account during the months of April, May and June.

And it could actually get worse. For Ford, it can be noted that it has spent 800 million dollars – 5.5 billion kroner – more on recalls compared to the first quarter of 2024.

According to figures from the US traffic safety authorities, this year Ford has issued 37 recalls on more than 3.5 million cars. That's more recalls than any other car brand.

However, it is not only in the USA that it is crazy about Ford cars. In Europe too, the brand may have dismantled over 5,000 cars already at the factory. The damage may be irreparable. Read more about that case here .

Recalls are nothing new at all. In fact, it almost seems like a week doesn't pass between things like this to a greater or lesser degree.

It is not more than a month ago that Mercedes had to recall 100,000 electric cars due to a fault that was found in Denmark last autumn.

The problem, believed to be in the battery management, causes the cars to shut down suddenly and without warning. After the error was found here at home, there have been reports that it is also bothering Mercedes owners in the USA.
