Ford must not just reinvent the hybrids in Europe, now the brand is changing its mind about an electric car factory in Canada.
There is a lot going on for Ford at the moment. Now the brand has to admit that there are not enough customers in electric cars to defend a dedicated electric car factory in Canada.
However, this does not mean that Ford is leaving the factory that was built in 1953 at 1400 The Canadian Road in Oakville, Ontario.
But this means that electric cars will not be built there. Otherwise, the plan was for Ford to have already built 5 different electric cars at the factory from next year.

But now Ford says it has changed its mind. Instead, further production of the so-called Super Duty trucks based on the F series of pickup models must be started. Cars with large V8 engines available as both petrol and diesel powertrains.
Ford's new calculations show that it will be possible to build 100,000 of these types of cars per year. In addition, the new decision will mean that 1,800 employees will keep their jobs.
From director Jim Farley's side, the decision is about a shift from electric cars to Super Duty production. The brand is finding it difficult to keep up with demand.
– Even with the capacity turned all the way up at our factories in Kentucky and Ohio, we cannot keep up with the demand (for the Super Duty cars, ed.).
As part of the reshuffle at the factory in Canada, Ford will spend the equivalent of 20 billion kroner to get ready for the big cars. Something that also means that there will be a need for 150 new people on the factory floor.
However, it is not everywhere that Ford needs new people. Recently, the head office in Michigan has decided to take over the management of Ford in Europe. This has meant that 8 out of 10 employees have been fired. Read more about it here .
