Mysterious car brand postpones new factory for the third time

For a very short period of time they were worth more than even Volkswagen. Since then, however, Vietnamese VinFast, which has been exposed as buying its own cars, has collapsed. Now the factory is postponed.

Vietnamese VinFast has said on several occasions that it would open a factory in the United States. First it was supposed to be this year.

But it won't come to anything. Then VinFast said 2025, and now nothing will happen until 2028 at the earliest. So maybe.

VinFast writes this itself in a press release .

In the same letter, the car brand makes it clear that it has only delivered 12,058 cars in the second quarter of 2024. However, this is 24 percent better than last year, and only slightly worse than the somewhat better-known Polestar.

The Chinese brand claims in a yet-to-be-ratified account for the second quarter that it has delivered just under 13,000 cars globally. Still, the car brand is preparing for a huge round of layoffs in September. Read more about it here .

Back at VinFast, there are still plans for a factory in the USA to build 150,000 of the brand's cars a year. That's not going to happen anytime soon, even though the brand has already received and spent $1.2 billion in support from the state of California.

American media also write that VinFast has reduced plans for the construction of the factory. At the same time, not much should have happened on the construction site since the bosses took the first ceremonial sod.

All in all, VinFast is surrounded by great mystery. In addition to the fact that the brand has been exposed in buying its own cars, it has also threatened both journalists and private citizens who have criticized the brand's cars. The threats have even been helped by the police. Read more about it here .
