Car dealers can't get rid of 3 million cars

Almost 3 million new cars are missing their first owners. Dealers simply can't get rid of them.

The development since the corona days, when car dealers screamed for new cars, has to that extent been reversed. Now there are 3 million cars that dealers cannot get rid of.

This is shown by a new settlement from dealers in the United States, which Automotive News refers to.

Specifically, the dealers are burning inside with 2.89 million cars that have not yet found their first owners. That is one million more cars than in the same period last year.

The dealers of the Japanese car brands apparently have the fewest cars standing, while the Stellantis group burns inside with the most cars. The worst situation is at Jeep and Ram, where you already have enough cars to keep sales going for 5 months. That is, if any cars were sold.

There is also a big difference in when cars in the individual price classes leave the dealers' warehouses. It goes 'fastest' for cars that cost up to 30,000 dollars, equivalent to 205,000 kroner.

Dealers get rid of those cars on average after 61 days, while cars that cost between 60,000 and 80,000 dollars (up to 550,000 kroner, ed.) take just under 100 days to leave the same warehouses.

Boosted has previously been able to tell about Mercedes dealers who anonymously complain that they find it particularly difficult to sell electric cars. However, it is only now that the brand is taking the consequences. It will cost DKK 105 billion. Read more about it here .
