Audi drops both the internal combustion engine and the A4 model. Almost. For the new A5, which has been leaked for time, replaces two models and runs on gasoline a little more.
Audi is struggling to eradicate its own model range. At least the part with a combustion engine. Now a new A5 replaces both the old A4 and A5.
In total, Audi will present 20 new electric cars by 2025. The new A5 is not one of them. But nonetheless, it's a car you mustn't see just yet.
A leak of the brand's own images thus reveals the car prematurely. The same has already been the case with the new A6, which, however, will only be an electric car. Read more about it here.
The reason for the leak is allegedly to be found in the US, where a media outlet has broken the embargo agreement with the car brand and released the images of the new A5 ahead of time.

However, the pictures show nothing surprising. In fact, the new A5 looks like everything else from Audi. You have to squeeze your eyes tightly together to imagine a new car. But it is new, claims Audi.
The new A5 comes as both a sedan and a station wagon. Or Avant as Audi calls it. The base model is equipped with a two-litre turbo-petrol, 240 horsepower and seven-speed double clutch.
Later, the car comes as the S5. This means both four-wheel drive, which Audi calls Quattro, and a turbocharged V6 engine of 2.9 liters with 362 horsepower. Plugin hybrids will also be there.
The car is built on Audi's last platform for cars with a combustion engine: Premium Platform Combustion or PPC. The car brand is adamant that in this way they will have launched the last car with a combustion engine as early as 2026.
However, it is more about evolution than revolution. Something that is particularly evident in the cabin, where the upcoming A5 looks like any other of its siblings from the last 20 years.
