After a 15-year absence, Toyota now wants to return to Formula 1. The Japanese are negotiating with Haas, media write.
Toyota spent billions of kroner every single year the Japanese were in Formula 1. All without winning a single lob. The best result was an overall fourth place in the Constructors' Championship in 2005.
Nevertheless, the car brand now wants to return to Formula 1. This is what RacingNews365 writes.
Initially, the Japanese must be interested in sponsorship, similar to the agreement Alfa Romeo had with Sauber until the end of the 2023 season.
But the talks the Japanese have in the paddock can, according to the media, develop into a more extensive collaboration already from the 2026 season.

Allegedly, Haas F1 has employed Danish Kevin Magnussen, with whom Toyota is in negotiations. Haas must, among other things, be very interested in the possibility of being able to use Toyota's wind tunnel in Koln, Germany, which was not curtailed when the brand left Formula 1 in 2009.
If Toyota returns to Formula 1, it will be a great victory for the organization behind the sport. The participation of more car brands has long been desired here.
Something that from 2026 could have meant that both Audi and Porsche entered Formula 1. But the latter could not agree with Red Bull, who in the end would rather have Ford's sponsorship money because the Americans made fewer demands.
Right now, Haas is closely linked to Ferrari, and several in and outside the paddock have for years considered the newest team in Formula 1 as Ferrari's incubator. Something that is emphasized by the latest developments at Haas.
Nico Hülkenberg, who has signed a contract with Sauber from next season, will be replaced by Ferrari's junior driver Oliver Bearman. The 19-year-old Briton also retains his duties as the Italians' official reserve choir.
What Ferrari has paid Haas for such an agreement is not known. But it is certain that, on paper, Oliver Bearman has been given a multi-year agreement with the Americans. What the change of choir means for Danish Kevin Magnussen is still unclear.
