Hyundai sued for gross fraud and fraud

In the US, Hyundai is in serious trouble because the importer is accused of pressuring dealers to lie about sales figures.

Hyundai may have boasted massively about the number of cars the brand has sold in the US. For the same reason, a lawsuit has been brought against the importer, who is accused of pressuring the dealers to lie about sales figures.

The dealers who refused to participate in the scam were instead punished. The dealers are said to have been pressured to e.g. to register loan cars as pure sales.

This is written by Autoblog via Reuters.

The car manufacturer's importer in the US is now being prosecuted for, among other things, fraud. In addition to the incorrect sales figures, the importer must also have forced the dealers to fill their stocks with certain cars.

A strategy that has given American motorists a significantly smaller range of models to choose from. Something that should also show on paper that the sale of electric cars was driven by motorists' demand.

Hyundai has said in a statement that the type of counterfeiting the importer is accused of cannot be tolerated. The brand has also launched an internal investigation. But this apparently only happened after the case appeared in the media.

It is not the first time that Hyundai's methods in the US put the car manufacturer in a bad light. In the past, it has emerged that the brand has made use of child labor in the United States. It cost a subcontractor a contract. Read more about it here .
