In 2025, a new emergency flash will come to Denmark

Denmark will soon have a new type of emergency flash. However, the green color must not be respected to the same extent as the police blue.

Only the police and other authorities may use blue flashing lights on the roof. But soon the green warning light will become a reality in Denmark.

The green color is to show others in traffic that volunteer lifeguards, e.g. heart lobes, is on its way. It will be an option already from next year. So in 2025.

The warning light, as it is called, does not give the car it is on any advantages in traffic. It should only make others aware that a volunteer lifeguard is on his way through the traffic.

Motorists with the green flashing light on the roof must follow all other traffic rules. Just as it is also not an excuse to sing, for example, carousel of madness.

– I am amending the notice for flashing and emergency calls, so that, among other things, a new large warning flash will be introduced for volunteer rescuers such as cardiologists.

– The idea is that it should make fellow road users aware that a volunteer rescuer is coming here and hopefully get them to show consideration, says Transport Minister Thomas Danielsen (V) in a comment to FDM .

However, the minister just forgets to mention that he cannot act on his own, but is dependent on a majority in Parliament.

The minister is also wrong when he says that there are no similar flashes in Europe. In Sweden, the police have just been given a completely new color during emergency operations. However, similar to the blue flashing light in Denmark, it must not be respected in the same way by other road users. Read more about it here .

However, not everyone is equally enamored with the idea of the new green flashes. In fact, several organizations – including Reddernes Landsklub – express criticism of the wink. Even the name 'attention flash' is misleading, it says.

The criticism, however, totally bounces off the minister, who believes that the Danish drivers who use the blinker can figure out how to administer the scheme within the framework of the law.
