A new survey maps what causes tempers to rise among motorists when the summer holidays are of the self-righteous type.
The energy company Circle K has asked Kantar Media to ask motorists what can ignite the biggest arguments on the car holiday.
Some things are generally the cause of greater conflict than others. In the first place, the absolute majority of drivers are turned off when others in the car comment on the traffic jam. Boredom, however, is a source of at least as much conflict, the motorists reply.
In second place is poor map reading. Even in a world where almost every driver owns a smartphone and therefore also a GPS, there are still some who swear by the old-fashioned road map.
However, relying too much on the GPS and/or getting it wrong can also piss off the drivers to that extent. As many as 13 percent answered in the survey that this kind of error is the source of the biggest arguments on the choir-self holiday.

In third place we find poor planning. Or at least disagreements about where and when breaks should be taken. 11 percent of those questioned answered that they are turned off by this kind of question.
According to the survey, other causes of conflict are the choice of music, the volume and temperature in the car and unforeseen stops or breaks.
The drivers under investigation were also asked to answer who most often triggers the conflict in the car. And perhaps not so surprisingly, most drivers blame the arguments on their 'better half'. 22 percent answer that it is the boyfriend who is most often to blame.
Immediately afterwards, however, 21 percent of motorists have enough self-awareness to admit that they themselves trigger a conflict in the car. While 25 percent blame the children.
