56-year-old jailed – 285 kilos caught by special car scanner

A 56-year-old man was remanded in custody for four weeks on Thursday this week because he was stopped with the wrong load of 285 kilos in Froslev.

A 56-year-old man from Poland was yesterday arrested and charged with drug smuggling at the border crossing in Froslev. On Wednesday at 11.50 the man was stopped by the joint Police & Customs group and taken for a check.

The investigation was carried out by the Swedish Customs Agency, which used a truck scanner to examine the Spanish-registered tanker.

The scan revealed irregularities in the cargo, and a closer inspection revealed that 285 kilos of hashish were hidden in the tank.

This is what the Southern and Sonderjylland Police write in a press release .

– The 285 kilos that the Customs Agency has detained at the border with Germany unfortunately confirms the general increase we see in cases involving drugs and especially hashish.

– Last year the Customs Agency detained approx. 1.9 tonnes of hashish, and therefore it is important that we continue our efforts in the area, says Director of Control Jeppe Kjærgaard stated:

On Thursday morning, the 56-year-old was produced in a constitutional hearing at the Court in Sonderborg, where he was remanded in custody for four weeks. The arrested person has appealed the ruling to the High Court.

The control of motorists in Denmark has generally increased. The police will not say where the so-called license plate scanners have been set up. But it is certain that there have been more recently.

However, a Danish man has set out to map all the so-called 'ANPG cameras' that the law enforcement authorities do not want to tell about.

The points marked in red on Christian Panton's map are the police number plate scanners. Read more about it here .
