Now Yamaha's motorcycles get automatic transmission

Yamaha believes that motorcycles with automatic transmissions will improve the riding experience. Y-AMT is the name of the technology.

Yamaha's Y-AMT technology covers a new automatic transmission for motorcycles. According to the Japanese brand, the gear should provide a more focused choir experience.

– We know that many have been waiting for this.

– This advanced automatic transmission technology revolutionizes the car and makes it possible for rider and motorcycle to merge into one unit, says Christoffer Lindroth, department manager at Yamaha Motor Scandinavia, in a press release .

Christoffer Lindroth believes that the automatic transmission will give motorcyclists the same enjoyment as motorists in cars with automatic transmission. Namely the feeling of 'just' being able to sing.

– Many people appreciate just being able to drive and enjoy the roads without thinking about technical details such as the clutch. You can now enjoy an adrenaline-filled and smooth ride every time you get on the motorcycle, says the department manager.

Yamaha promises that the automatic transmission will work seamlessly with the cruise control that customers are already familiar with. However, both the automatic transmission and the cruise control are optional equipment.

Yamaha will launch the automatic transmission for selected models in the autumn of 2024, because production will be scaled up in the course of 2025. Something else is what the motorcycles are doing. BMW has a clear attitude towards this. Some of it simply doesn't work. Read more about it here .
