The state throws away 97 million kroner to get people to drive electric car-sharing vehicles

A new pool of DKK 97 million has been launched by the Road Directorate to promote the use of electric shared cars in Denmark.

This funding is part of the total subsidy pool of DKK 105 million from Infrastructure Plan 2035, and the money is planned to be distributed over two years.

Previous initiatives that received support from last year's pool included a digital platform for booking car hire in sparsely populated areas, the creation of over 50 charging stations specifically for electric car-sharing in Copenhagen, and support for small car-sharing associations that want to offer sustainable alternatives to private car ownership outside the big cities.

This new pool is open for applications from Monday 1 July at 10:00 a.m. The Directorate of Roads encourages projects from all over the country to apply, as they hope for a wide geographical spread of the grants that will be awarded.

"We hope for applications from projects spread across the country, so that as many people as possible can benefit from being able to use an electric car-sharing system. If you support an electric car-sharing scheme in a local community, then some families may be able to avoid buying another or third car. And for families who don't use the extra car that often, it can actually be an economic advantage, while doing something good for the climate," says Mette Fynbo, head of the Road Directorate.

Projects that wish to receive funding must have significant potential and be generally accessible.

The funds can be used to establish parking lots with charging stations for electric car sharing, pilot projects, local market surveys, as well as the development of new initiatives and platforms.

Applications are open to all types of companies and associations, as well as partnerships between these.

For more information about the application process, as well as links to application instructions and other relevant documents, interested parties can visit the Road Directorate's website.
