LaFerrari will soon have a successor, says Ferrari

Piero Ferrari, who is the son of Enzo Ferrari, confirms that the car brand that bears their name is on the way with the successor to the LaFerrari.

LaFerrari may not be the sexiest name in the world. But the car was nevertheless Ferrari's top model between 2013 and 2018. It was 499 closed coupés and 209 open versions with targa roof.

Now the deputy chairman of the Ferrari board, Piero Ferrari, who is the son of founder Enzo Ferrari, promises that a replacement is on the way.

He tells this in an interview for Top Gear .

Every ten years we have a new one. Something is coming and I know what it is, says Piero Ferrari.

Secretive, the vice-chairman could or perhaps would not say more about the new top model. But if we use Ferrari's modern history as a yardstick, the car must be right on the stairs.

Enzo Ferrari – yes, that was actually the name of the car – was born in 2002. LaFerrari appeared 11 years later, now 11 have passed since then.

What Ferrari intends to equip the car with – i.e. in terms of engine – is a completely different matter. Because even though the brand works with both hydrogen and a V6 engine that lies upside down, the people from Maranello have also said that the V12 is not retiring.

In fact, Ferrari will continue to build V12 engines as long as it is allowed in some form. And even completely without any kind of turbo pressure.

"Turbo pressure is not something I'm considering," said development boss Gianmaria Fulgenzi, referring to Ferrari's 6.5-liter V12 engine, in a recent interview with Autocar.

The latest bid for a 12-cylinder Ferrari is simply called "12 cylinders" or in Italian 12Cilindri. An elegant case with a design inspired by the car that the press in 1968 dubbed the Daytona but which in reality is called the 365 GTB/4. Read more about it here .
