Ford continues carnage: Fires 8 out of 10 employees

Ford in Europe must be slimmed down enormously. And it is not only on the factory floor that fire notices are handed out. 8 out of 10 German top managers get fired.

Ford has just notified 1,600 employees at the brand's factory in Valencia, Spain, that they are unwanted.

And although the employees fear that even more redundancies are on the way, it is only among those on the floor that gray paper is handed out.

In fact, Ford in Germany is saying goodbye to 8 out of 10 top managers. This is written by the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger newspaper.

– The change allows us to act faster and allows the management team to concentrate fully on their operational tasks, says Kieran Cahill, chairman of the board of Ford Germany.

The 8 managers must leave their positions already on 1 July this year. So already on Monday. One of those who quit is the head of personnel Rainer Ludwig. He has worked for Ford for 37 years.

The tasks he and the other fired managers leave Ford with must be distributed among other employees at a lower management level.

The rank-and-file employees fear being hit by even more layoffs than Ford has already announced. Among other things, the employees' union is concerned about whether there is enough work for everyone at the car brand's factory in the German city of Cologne. Read more about it here .

Ford is not the only car brand to say goodbye to a sea of employees recently. In the course of this year alone, Tesla has fired 20,000 of those who have been on the payroll.

In return, the brand's board has made Elon Musk, who is already one of the world's richest people, even richer. It happened after the shareholders voted yes to a gigantic salary package of 400 billion dollars.
