Denmark's most popular car plummets to 18th place

The Tesla Model Y was not just the most popular car in Denmark but in the whole world in 2023. That is far from how it looks in 18th place now.

High to fly, extremely deep to fall.

That's how Tesla must feel about the Model Y right now. Because after a crazy record year for the model – and not just here at home but all over the world – new Model Y owners are now leaving.

In fact, the Model Y has fallen from undisputed first place to only occupying 18th place among the new cars Europeans most want.

That's what Auto News writes.

The same media writes, however, that the figures still need to be finally confirmed. Furthermore, the media believes that the final list may well shift slightly.

Because while it is more or less certain that Model Y sales have fallen by 49 percent to 'just' 10,582 cars throughout Europe in the month of May, Volkswagen's T-Roc takes first place.

So maybe. For Auto News, we understand that the T-Roc, which was launched way back in 2017, may actually be pushed by its sibling, the Golf.

A car that has otherwise had a hard time in recent years. However, Auto News believes that the top 3 are: Volkswagen Golf, Volkswagen T-Roc and Dacia Sandero. In other words, all European new car sales in the month of May have been counted.

However, it is still the Dacia that is ahead on points when you count the first months of 2024 together. But right now it is the Volkswagen T-Roc that, with 19,748 copies, keeps the most new ones in Europeans' driveways and garages.

So where does that leave the Tesla Model Y? It is difficult to answer. But it is unlikely to be a record, which Opel in Denmark had to submit in 2023 after 37 years of dominance. Read more about it here .
