Drivers are most happy with these cars after 300,000 kilometers

It is far from all cars that manage to cover 300,000 kilometers in their lifetime. But those who do are quite similar, research shows.

What does it take for a car to still be reliable and have a happy owner after 300,000 kilometers? According to American Consumer Reports, it must 'just' be a Toyota.

When it comes to kilometers – or miles as the Americans say – there is nothing more satisfied than Toyota owners according to a Consumer Reports survey.

Specifically, satisfaction is greatest among Toyota Camry owners. Also after 200,000 miles or 321,000 kilometers. That corresponds to a little more than 8 times around the Earth.

The organization writes this in a press release .

When it comes to older cars with high mileage, Toyota ranks 6 out of 10 places. Only a single Ford F-150 and three Honda models can just squeeze into the top 10.

The same Consumer Reports also writes that a passenger car in the US lives on average 13-14 years, because it smokes before a trip to the garage. When that happens, the car will have about 320,000 kilometers on it.

But for some car models, 320,000 kilometers is only the beginning of life. For others, not at all. It was also Consumer Reports who bought a Fisker Ocean a few months ago, only to completely butcher the car in its assessment.

The car is, say the Americans, not only weak in its assistance systems, it also loses value faster than the driver can find his way around. Read more about the horrific loss of value over just 60 days here .
