Patrick's Mercedes has dangerous brakes – get help now

Two years after a problem with dangerous brakes in wet weather was first described, Mercedes is recalling the GLE model.

It has been two years since the media – i.a. Swedish Vi Bilägare – wrote about dangerous brakes on the Mercedes GLE. However, it is only now that Mercedes is doing something about it.

A number of GLE models are being recalled to fix the problem, the media writes. And it's actually not the first time that Mercedes has tried to fix the problem.

Patrick Wiström, who owns a Mercedes GLE, tells the media that it 'feels good that Mercedes is now taking the problem seriously'.

That's what We Bilägare writes.

Most recently, the German brand has tried to fix the brake problem, which i.a. plagues the diesel-powered plug-in hybrids, with some new software.

The problem, which at the time had to be solved by a software update, was that the driver might have to press harder on the brake pedal to brake under certain conditions, e.g. in rainy weather. If the driver does not press hard on the brakes, it will take longer to stop the car.

Patrick Wiström was one of those who found that GLEs built between 2019 and 2023 do not brake as they should.

At the time, Mercedes tried an automatic reinforcement of the corner brake system. But apparently that has not been enough.

Incidentally, it is not the first time that Mercedes has recalled the GLE model of the year that Patrick Wiström is driving around.

In February this year, 116,000 cars had to be repaired because the brake pedal could fall. And in April, the same applied to a further 341,000 cars due to fire hazards. Read more about it here .
