Chinese BYD already promises to be ready this year with a so-called 6C battery that can be charged in 10 minutes or less.
The various car and battery manufacturers have almost stood in a row for the past several years to promise the same thing. Namely that the super battery, which charges lightning fast, would be here shortly.

Now Chinese BYD, which for several years lived by copying everything from BMW's logo to Mercedes' cars, believes it is ready with an alternative. And already this year.
The Chinese believe that the so-called 6C battery can be charged in 10 minutes or less. That is, when it goes from 10 to 80 percent.

The technique is based on the so-called Lithium Iron Phosphate – or LFP batteries – which are said to be slower to charge than the alternatives. But the new 6C technology should enable the LFP batteries to charge faster.
Specifically, if the Chinese are to be believed, the batteries will be able to charge their own capacity six times in one hour. Or a fully charged battery in 10 minutes.
And it has gone fast. With the development that is. It is not more than a few months ago that also Chinese CATL launched a 5C battery. It takes 11.5 minutes to charge from 10 to 80 percent and has a range of 470 kilometers.
The problem is the charging infrastructure. Even the fastest chargers today are not fast enough for these kinds of batteries. To extract the maximum power from a 5C charge, the stand must be able to charge with at least 360 kW. When it goes fastest today, a 300 kW lightning charger is used.
