Speed bump destroys cars – municipality risks compensation claims

The signs are wrong at some new bumps in Faaborg on South Funen. Therefore, some road bumps are now completely removed. The municipality risks compensation claims from motorists, ingenior believes.

Some bumps on Havnegade in the southern Funen town of Faaborg may have destroyed several cars.

In any case, the municipality has given the wrong sign with the speed immediately before the bumps. They are not built for driving over them at more than 10 km/h. However, the municipality has put up 40 boards.

And that can cause more problems. Especially for the cars on the road. This is written by Fyens.dk .

A former road engineer, whom the newspaper has spoken to, points out the error and believes that it can cause damage to the cars if the speed is over 10 km/h.

The municipality acknowledges the mistake, which is why the bumps are now being peeled back. The municipality admits that they built the bumps on the roads that they 'just had lying around'. And it was a mistake.

Now, instead, some other bumps must be built to force drivers to slow down. However, the municipality still believes that they can handle the task. On the other hand, it is not the first time that several speed bumps cause problems in Faaborg in particular.

Previously, Boosted was able to say that the Road Directorate would both pay compensation in the event of an accident with a certain type of road bump in the city, and that they ended up peeling them up again. The bumps, that is.

The attempt, which ultimately came to nothing, cost taxpayers one million kroner at the time. Read more about it here .
