The license plate is worth 50 times more than the car it was on, at least a few years ago. Namely a Mercedes C200d.
It is not more than five months ago that the license plate '1' was sold for over 12 million Australian dollars. This corresponds to 55 million Danish kroner.
And now another one of the special license plates with just two digits has been snapped up. Nor has it been completely free to get hold of.
With a hammer blow at 2.5 million Australian dollars, this corresponds to someone paying 11.5 million Danish kroner for the number plate "20".
The number plate is one of just 90 two-digit number plates in the Australian state of Victoria. Furthermore, there are only 9 license plates of the new one with an even number.

And apparently this is something that people with a lot of money care a lot about. Part of the story is that it is not unusual for the same family to own this type of license plate for many years.
Number plate "1", for example, was in the same family's possession for over 100 years, because the members decided to sell.
The number plate "20" is actually seen in the open. According to the Instagram profile heritageplates, it was on a Mercedes C200d as recently as April 2021. At the time, it was estimated that the number was worth up to one and a half million Australian dollars.
We don't have that kind of thing in Denmark. But in countries like Dubai, license plates with very 'small numbers' are also big business. The closest we get to the phenomenon are the so-called wish plates. And here Patrick has perhaps bought himself the country's wildest. Read more about it here .
