With 780 hp, the Volvo FH16 is Europe's most powerful truck

The new Volvo FH16 is not just Europe's most powerful truck. It also meets all applicable emission standards. The so-called Euro6 requirements.

You won't find a wilder truck on European roads than the Volvo FH16. The new bottling is powered by a 17-liter, 6-cylinder diesel engine that delivers 780 horsepower.

Still, it uses five percent less fuel and has seven percent more torque than its predecessor.

This is what Volvo Trucks AB writes in a press release .

– Our engineers have delivered an engine that combines the highest torque and power levels of any European truck with superior fuel economy.

– The facts speak for themselves – more torque and power with significant fuel and CO2 savings is a fantastic result.

– This means that our customers can carry out their tasks more efficiently and with higher productivity, says Jan Hjelmgren, Head of Product Management and Quality at Volvo Trucks.

If less can do it, the power in the new 6-cylinder diesel engine can be turned down. In fact, it comes in three stages. 600, 700 and 780 horsepower. The top model rolls off with a massive torque of 3,800 Nm.

And you don't even need to pour diesel on the big truck. In all versions, the D17 engine can be run on the artificially created HVO diesel. A fuel that can be made from, for example, old cooking oil.
