Almost nobody in Denmark bothers with these new cars

While a small car like the Volvo EX30 storms onto the sales lists, some cars shine by their complete or partial absence from the same lists.

5 months of 2024 have now passed.

Five months in which some cars have had much more speed than others. Also on the Danish roads. A look at the official sales figures reveals that some brand new cars are being 'forgotten' by the Danes.

This is shown by figures from De Danske Bilimportorer.

For example, when did you last see a new Jaguar on Danish license plates? No, right? And there is a reason for that.

Because although the brand, like a number of competitors these days, withdraws ambitious goals to produce only electric cars, the Danes stay away. Also from the electric car, the English brand owned by Indian Tata Motors actually has the program.

The maligned and problematic I-Pace costs almost DKK 1 million in Denmark. And perhaps that is why not a single car has been sold here in the first five months of 2024.

And now that we are in that price range, the Danes are also moving away from the Toyota Supra to a large extent. All of last year Toyota only managed to sell two new copies of the car in Denmark.

Per 31 May 2024, another Supra has been given Danish number plates. By the way, do you remember what a Honda Civic is? Well, right? Then you are not alone.

For Honda, which is now only a shadow of itself in Denmark, has only sold 14 new Civics from January to May. The Tesla Model S fares even worse. Only 9 Danes have bought Tesla's top model during the same period.

Then there is the Peugeot 508. The favorite of the choral sellers can no longer live up to the title of favourite. In fact, almost as many Ford Mustangs were sold as 508s. The Peugeot attracted 8 Danes, while 7 Danes have bought a new Ford Mustang this year.

But it can get even wilder. Because between 1 January and 31 May 2024, exactly as many Kia Rios as Lamborghini Urus have been registered. Yes, you read that right. Exactly one of each.
