Motorist without a license card took part in a trial while driving a car

A motorist recently stunned a judge in the US state of Michigan when he 'appeared' in court via a Zoom call from his car.

44-year-old Corey Harris is not actually allowed to drive a car. And as if that is not bad enough in itself, the man has gone viral in recent days for the wrong reason.

Corey Harris participated in his own trial directly from his own car. Even behind the wheel where he is not allowed to sit at all.

– Give me a second, I'm just about to park, said Corey Harris when he appeared on a Zoom connection from the car.

The 44-year-old man explained himself in a case where he was accused of driving a car without a driving license while driving a car.

When the judge asked Corey Harris why he drove the car, the driver replied that he was on his way to the doctor.

That answer surprised referee Cedric Simpson a bit. The motorist was the same – i.e. surprised – at the next message he received. The judge ordered him to report to the police later that day.

After two days in the trap, however, the case has taken several turns. First it emerged that Corey Harris should have had his choir card back several years ago. But that by mistake it had not happened.

Since then, however, the legal system has maintained that the case against the 44-year-old driver was and is good enough. His right to drive a car has been revoked. It is not his choir card for other choir clothes, however.

This is what the American public service media NPR writes. Since then, Harris' wife has posted bail to have him released, and the man's lawyer has intervened in the debate. The lawyer will now help him to seek the right permits so that he can reacquire the choir card.

– There's just something about him. God bless such a fool, says lawyer Dionne Webster-Cox.
