Conrad is only 18 years old – now he has to drive Le Mans with his father

When 18-year-old Conrad Laursen shares a Ferrari 296 GTB with his father Jonny Laursen this coming weekend, it will be the first time ever for the young Dane at Le Mans.

It is the second time that Johnny Laursen participates in the French classic. The 60-year-old racing driver made his debut at Le Mans in 2016 after a championship win in the European Le Mans Series the year before.

However, this year will be quite different, as Laursen is now performing together with his son, 18-year-old Conrad Laursen, who is among the youngest singers in the field.

The partners write this in a press release .

– It's nice to be back, especially because I now get the opportunity to line up with Conrad, who was just a 10-year-old go-kart driver the last time we were here.

– But we are here to perform, and with our team, car and lineup, I think we have a really good composition this year, says Johnny Laursen.

However, the two cannot manage all 24 hours on their own. Third place will be the American Jordan Taylor, who won a class victory in the race in a Chevrolet Corvette C7.R.

Together with the Danes, Jordan Taylor now shares a Ferrari 296 GT3 for the Swiss team Spirit of Race.

– It's my first Le Mans, so everything is new to me, and I'm naturally very excited about it all. I still remember the first time I was at Le Mans as a very small child, and to be there now as one of the choirs is almost unreal.

– In terms of performance, I would say that we have a good chance of helping to fight for the good results. We have a strong car and a good team behind us.

– And with Jordan (Taylor, ed.) on board, we have plenty of Le Mans experience with us. We are just looking forward to getting started, says Conrad Laursen.

Le Mans, which takes place from Thursday 15 June at 16.00 and 24 hours ahead, will be different with a record number of Danes in the field this year. There will be a total of 13 people with Danish passports.
