Owners complain – new Volvo EX30 is full of bugs

The owners of Volvo's all-new electric car, the EX30, are now complaining so much about it that you'd think the car was a faulty design on four wheels.

Boosted has also written about the Volvo EX30 owner Martin, who had to trick his car just to get it to stop reporting errors. But he is not the only one who has a problem with the new Chinese.

Something suggests that Volvo has sent the small, electric SUV out on the roads far too quickly. The car is otherwise praised by both journalists and owners for the general hardware. But it looks completely different with the software part.

In numerous forums, frustrated EX30 owners share experiences with the car, which is plagued by a host of faults. However, the most common failure seems to be the connection to the Internet.

If the connection is not bad, many drivers find that the car cannot connect to the Internet at all. And that puts many of the car's other functions completely out of whack.

But there are also major problems with the Bluetooth connection, radios that turn off when the car brakes, and cranky assistant systems that throw around warnings when they absolutely shouldn't be there.

Even the car's clock shows the wrong time, and the car's built-in infotainment screen has a tendency to fall back or completely start up in a so-called 'test mode'.

When this happens, the owners can see nothing but a sample image on the screen, which is otherwise useless. Volvo claims that the problems owners are experiencing can be fixed with an update. The owners of the cars that cannot be connected to the internet, however, have to drive past a workshop.

– The problems experienced are solved continuously with software updates wirelessly. Those who wish can instead have the updates installed at their Volvo workshop, says Volvo Cars' press manager in Sweden Magnus Holst to Carup .

Here at home, the Volvo EX30 is at least off to a good start. According to figures from De Danske Bilimportorer, the little Chinese is the 8th most popular car in Denmark at the moment.
