Fired the Danish manager – now they have sold one car

Since the Chinese car brand Nio fired its Danish boss, the brand has sold one car here at home. Officially, the brand denies having withdrawn.

The Chinese car brand is not closed in Denmark. Not officially, anyway.

But several of the rank-and-file employees in the Danish department are gone, and so is the top Danish boss.

Instead, Nio has gathered its 'activities' in an office in Sweden's capital, Stockholm. There were otherwise plans for both shops and several so-called power swap stations (battery change stations, ed.) in Denmark.

But it was only one in Slagelse, because Nio decided to shut down. A shutdown that Nio insists on is not a shutdown.

Until March this year, Nio had 32 employees, but several were made redundant over the winter. And now there are probably only a handful left. It hasn't turned into very many cars either.

In fact, back in March, Nio had only got 56 cars on Danish number plates in total. And of the 56, only 12 have been purchased by private individuals. When Nio fired the Danish boss, it was only a short time after a third of the employees were cut.

At that time, Nio had 2 cars on the Danish roads in the course of the first months of 2024. Now updated figures from De Danske Bilimportorer show that another Nio has been given Danish license plates. The figures cover the period 1 January to 31 May 2024.

In comparison, 17 new Nio models received Danish number plates throughout 2023. Outside the world, however, things are not much better for the Chinese brand.

Among other things. is the brand that loses more than DKK 120,000 on every car sold, almost a year to pay its bills to suppliers. Read more about it here .
