Electric car burns Volvo workshop to the ground

At the end of May, a Volvo XC40 Recharge ignited an entire car workshop, which the oncoming firefighters could not save from the flames.

A Volvo dealer in the city of San Diego, located in the US state of California, has lost its business. Literally.

A fire broke out in an electric car parked at the associated workshop. And then there was not much to do, even though the firemen arrived quickly.

The San Diego Union Tribune writes that.

Because although the fire in the car itself was extinguished in 10 minutes using foam and water, the flames had already taken hold of the buildings.

What caused the Volvo to catch fire is not yet known. But it is not the first time that an electric Volvo has gone up in flames in this way.

In Colorado, a plug-in hybrid exploded while sitting in its owner's garage. Miraculously, no one was injured in the explosion.

According to a Swedish study, electric cars catch fire less often than petrol and diesel cars do. However, the figures can be difficult to compare, as the fires have occurred in relatively new electric cars.

In Greece, they have also taken the consequence of fear of the worst possible scenario for SOS. Electric cars with more than 40 percent current on the battery are simply forbidden to be driven on board the country's ferries. Read more about it here .
