Koenigsegg can be named the world's best entrepreneur

He builds some of the world's wildest cars, could have bought Saab and now Christian von Koenigsegg can be named 'the world's best entrepreneur'.

Of course, this is not an official world championship. But Christian von Koenigsegg is still in the running for the title of 'world's best entrepreneur'.

A prize awarded by the audit firm Ernst & Young, EY.

The chance for Christian von Koenigsegg to be named the world's best entrepreneur coincides with the car brand's 30th anniversary. The car brand, with headquarters and factory in Ängelholm, Sweden, was founded in 1994.

Back then, Koenigsegg did not have the funds at the bottom of the coffin that the company has today. Even so, the company managed to get a rolling prototype out and about in just a few years.

Not even a fire at the factory put a dampener on the drum. Incidentally, the first series-produced Koenigsegg, the CC8S model, left the factory in 2002.

Today, Koenigsegg Automotive has over 700 employees and order books so full that Christian von Koenigsegg had to ask the buyers for permission to build more cars. Read more about it here.

In recommending von Koenigsegg, the Swedish part of the EY jury highlighted his patience, endurance and ability 'to look into the future'. Now it will be seen if a Swedish car man can stand the whole distance.

In this country, last year it was the valve manufacturer AVK Holding that won the title of the country's best entrepreneur. This year's candidate from Denmark has not yet been found.

Did you know otherwise? That Christian von Koenigsegg already in 2008 offered to buy Saab Automobile, which a bankrupt General Motors wanted to close? However, the bid fell through the following year. And Saab closed completely in 2011.
