Car porters demand tighter rules after TV2 documentary

According to De Danske Bilimportorer, after the TV2 documentary "The Black Swan", it is clear that there is a need for tighter rules in the leasing area.

The TV2 documentary 'The Black Swan' reveals how lawyers, gang criminals and shady leasing companies collaborate on extensive and serious crime.

The documentary included a call for the introduction of a licensing scheme for leasing companies. This call comes, among other things, from De Danske Bilimportorer, which supports the government's gang package from last year, which contained several positive measures.

The government has signaled that it will investigate the possibility of a licensing scheme for leasing companies.

However, concrete proposals for the implementation of such an arrangement have not been forthcoming. In a press release , De Danske Bilimportorer recommends a licensing scheme that uses all necessary means to keep criminals out of the industry.

It includes stricter capital requirements, increased supervision and a so-called 'fit and proper' assessment of the board and management.

– Politicians have long been aware that leasing companies are exploited by rock and gang groups for fraud. This has been documented in numerous police reports, and the industry has long sought to draw attention to the problem.

– However, we still lack concrete measures that can effectively shut down these activities, such as a licensing scheme for leasing companies," says Mads Rorvig, managing director of De Danske Bilimportorer.

De Danske Bilimportorer emphasizes that it is natural to set requirements for leasing companies in the same way as for banks and financial institutions, so that it is not possible for anyone to set up a leasing company without further ado.

– The licensing scheme can be put together in several ways, but the most important thing is that the requirements are high enough to remove the dishonest actors, says Mads Rorvig.

De Danske Bilimportorer calls on the government to act quickly to remove the dishonest companies that harm the rest of the industry.

The same Mads Rorvig has, however, previously reached out to ordinary motorists, who he believes will do well by only buying electric cars. Read more about the requirement here .
