It's difficult, but not impossible, to pave while you're singing. Just ask in Switzerland, where the country's authorities are working on an ingenious solution.
The Swiss are literally paving the road while driving. Or that is to say, the drivers are driving while they let others lay the asphalt.
But the principle is there. Both the cars and the asphalt workers are on the same stretch of road, without this necessarily meaning the closure of one or more lanes.
In fact, there is no need to close the road at all. The method, which was criticized in the beginning, the Swiss have now got such a good handle on it that it just goes out there.
By making a temporary bridge with a ramp, the traffic is diverted some distance above the road work itself, which can then proceed undisturbed under the improvised bridge.

The video below shows how it went when new asphalt was laid on the A1 motorway, which goes in the direction of the country's largest city, Zurich.
The method has Switzerland with it for two years. And according to the authorities, it significantly increases safety in connection with road work. Not only because the work itself can take place in daylight, but also because the road workers do not come near the cars on the road/bridge at all.
In the beginning, the initiative was otherwise met with fierce criticism, because the bridges that were first put into use created enormously long queues. In particular, it created problems for lorries, which could not get onto the bridge itself due to the slope of the bridges.
Local media even went so far as to call the new technique the cause of an outright cow fiasco on the country's country roads and highways.
Since then, the speed on the bridges has been limited to 60 km/h and the design improved so that the trucks can now get onto them without any problems. However, critics still believe that the bridges create congestion because the speed has to be reduced as far as it is.
