One man's mistake sent 15 cars to the workshop

A tanker driver made an extremely expensive mistake when he filled in the wrong fuel at a gas station.

An unusually stupid act cost 15 motorists a trip to the workshop in the end. They have filled their cars with the wrong fuel.

However, it is not their fault. On the contrary, the energy company Gulf Oil must take all the blame. It was their driver who poured the wrong fuel into the tanks.

This is written by the Swedish SVT .

For four hours, a supermarket with an associated gas station in the town of Sorunda had diesel in the petrol pumps and vice versa.

So far, five motorists have said that their cars have broken down due to the incorrect fueling. But many more drivers may very well sign up in the coming time.

For local mechanic Michael Johansson, however, the accident has already meant a lot of work. The mechanic has a special piece of advice for motorists who may be in doubt as to whether the car was now also filled with the right fuel.

– You can feel it because the car runs so badly. And then just switch off the engine as soon as possible, says the advice.

It is not only in Sweden that lorry drivers get off with their loads in this way. It has happened several times here at home. But what actually happens if you pour diesel on a petrol car and vice versa. We have put together an article about that here .

But the scariest thing is that every day there are drivers who forget what their cars are doing. Figures from SOS Dansk Autohjælp show that they alone help almost 5,000 drivers with that problem each year. That's more than 13 wrong refuelings every single day – all year round!
