While others regret, Ferrari still believes in the electric car

Rimac probably won't build an electric hypercar again, and Lamborghini isn't sure what customers want. But Ferrari believes the electric car has a place.

Several of Ferrari's competitors have postponed or completely stopped the development of electric cars.

For example, Rimac no longer believes that the really rich car buyers will get behind the wheel of an electric car. But Ferrari does.

In the halls of Maranello, Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna believes there is still a customer base for an all-electric supercar.

And in fact, he is convinced that the first ever all-electric Ferrari will sell 'at least as well' as the brand's models with internal combustion engines. However, Ferrari does not lift the lid on that car until sometime at the end of 2025.

– They (the customers, ed.) are waiting for our green car, says Benedetto Vigna to Bloomberg.

In fact, Ferrari believes there are so many customers for its electric cars that the Italians have built a brand new factory for the first time ever. Not for cars though, but for parts.

At the factory, parts such as electric motors and the actual battery packs for the electric cars must be manufactured. However, this does not mean that Ferrari is scrapping the internal combustion engine.

However, we don't have to go back any further than 2020 to find a Ferrari that stubbornly refused to build a one hundred percent electric car.

On the other hand, Vigna's predecessor Louis Camilleri actually said 'only' that Ferrari will ever get to the point where the brand only builds electric cars.

Recently, it has also come to light that the V12 engine still thrives in Maranello in the new 12Cilindri, which manages completely without turbo pressure or hybrid assistance.

In addition, we here at Boosted were able to say the other day that the people at the factory are working on the idea of turning a V6 engine that burns hydrogen on its head. Read more about it here .
