The last "Saab" must not be built – buyers lose everything

The NEVS-developed Emily GT does not end up in the hands of the Lebanese startup EV Electra after all.

Things move quickly in the automotive industry. Last week the plans were in full swing – at least outwardly – but now absolutely nothing is happening.

The electric car that the remnants of Saab Automobile, NEVS – or National Electric Vehicle Sweden – built in just 9 months will not go into production after all.

In any case, it will not be produced by Lebanese EV Electra. According to NEVS, the original agreement entered into by the partners has been broken.

This is what NEVS's managing director Nina Selander writes in a concise press release according to the Swedish media. Among other things. The engine magazine .

– In light of EV Electra's statements that the production must take place outside Sweden, and that the development is also not secured for Trollhättan, we no longer see any reason to wait for the contract to be fulfilled in its entirety.

– We have therefore informed EV Electra that we hereby choose to proceed with Emily GT and PONS without their participation. Businesses at this level are complex, and with regard to EV Electra, we will not go into detail about what has not been completed, the press release said.

Selander and NEVS will not say much more. But it is clear that the company had enough when it became clear that EV Electra would pull production out of Sweden.

Just a week ago, EV Electra's backer Jihad Mohammed otherwise said that he was looking for a production start as early as August. But now he has neither a car, drawings nor anything else.

However, Jihad Mohammed may have a factory in Italy, as a replacement for Saab's old factory in Trollhättan, which he could not be allowed to buy from the owner – the Swedish billionaire Svante Anderson.

– Losing time is never desirable, but losing the Saab heritage would have been worse. There are some of us who are still working hard not to let that dream be lost.

– And we also know that there are many who follow us, support and hope with all their hearts that an Emily GT will hit the roads. For you and for Trollhättan, we hope to return with a positive development in the near future, says Nina Selander.
