Last year, a now 31-year-old Swedish man was fined 5,000 kroner for drunk driving, but then he blamed his mother-in-law's coffee. And now the stall has been torn down.
A 31-year-old man from Norrköping in Sweden does not have to pay the fine of 5,000 Swedish kroner, corresponding to 3,200 Danish kroner, which he received last year for drunk driving.
The police otherwise believed to have found both alcohol, amphetamine, alprazolam and diazepam in the man's blood. But in court, the case fell completely to the ground.
From the dock in the district court, the man explained that he drank his mother-in-law's morning coffee and that she gets the medication on prescription. Something that the mother-in-law confirmed in court.

The 31-year-old's mother-in-law usually stirs the medicine into her morning coffee, and it was the cup that the man had accidentally drunk from. An explanation that was initially rejected.
But when the case reached the High Court, the explanation was still accepted. The prosecution has not been able to prove 'that it is beyond any reasonable doubt that the man took the drugs that the police found in his blood on purpose.'
It is not so rare that the police's evidence does not hold up in court. Here at home, for example, a researcher was acquitted for running around and scratching cars. The police could not prove it. Read more about that case here .
Recently, another motorist has been acquitted of doing 192 km/h in an 80 zone. The picture from the photo van is so bad that it cannot be used as evidence in the trial. But here too an appeal was necessary.
