Mazda recalls 10,000 cars with dangerous brakes

Mazda says it will reprogram the recalled cars to fix their tendency to panic brake.

Mazda is currently recalling almost 10,000 versions of the model CX-90 with a terrible problem.

Carscoops writes that.

The Japanese have discovered that the automatic corner brake can activate itself. A phenomenon that is also known as 'ghost braking'. The cars therefore brake for no reason at all on their own.

Tesla, among others, has been affected by something similar. The brand explained at the time that it had an 'unspecified' problem with some software. Read more about it here .

According to Mazda, the brand first became aware of the problem in January 2023. But it is only now that it leads to a recall. How Mazda discovered the problem is unknown.

In June 2023, Mazda attempted to correct the problem by updating the so-called Vehicle Control Module in the cars. But it has not helped, not even when another update was attempted in August. And now the cars have to go to the workshop.

Mazda itself says that the car brand is not aware that the error should have led to fatalities, injuries or accidents. But according to Carscoops, there are CX-90 owners who complain about the problem in various forum threads.
