In connection with Monaco's Formula 1 Grand Prix this weekend, Mercedes announced the first car in a new Mythos series. The car retains the AMG-developed V8 engine.
It looks brand new. Which it is. But technically, the Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed is identical to the SL 63 4Matic+.
That means 585 horsepower and 800 newton meters from a 4-liter V8 engine with twin turbos. But unlike the 'regular' SL, the PureSpeed has no roof.
It is satisfied with a halo device, as we know it from modern Formula 1 cars, as an A-pillar. It came to light when Mercedes drivers Lewis Hamilton and George Russell attended the presentation of the car.
Something that took place before the Monaco Grand Prix, which takes place this weekend. But that's not all Mercedes wants to tell about the car.

Because even though the brand is tight-lipped about the technical details, Autocar believes that the car is technically identical to the SL model. Something that, on the other hand, does not come with when you buy an SL-AMG are two helmets. This sort of thing, however, comes with the first car in the Mythos series.
So does a strict order to the factory to build only 250 cars. Cars which may otherwise only be offered to particularly 'dedicated' Mercedes enthusiasts and collectors, it says.
How much the selected few will then have to give for each individual car is not yet known. But the car it's based on costs from 187,000 euros. This corresponds to 1.4 million Danish kroner. OUCH!
On the other hand, the top speed in the SL 63 4Matic+ is electronically limited to 315 km/h, so we can safely count on Mercedes also taking care of that here.
