Tesla removes function in all new cars after 2 years

It's over playing games – or games, in other words – in the new Tesla Model S and X. At least via the Steam service.

It is not much more than two years ago that Tesla rolled out the first cars with connection to the game service Steam from the factory gates.

But now it's over. The function, which appeared in March 2022, has been removed from all new Model S and Model X, Tesla's otherwise oldest models.

According to Carscoop, it does not appear that the Model S and Model X already on the road are affected by the shutdown. But conversely, Tesla has not explained why they are now removing the game service in new cars.

On the other hand, Model X and Model S owners have been told that Tesla is updating the computers in their cars, and that means Steam as a service is going away.

The media Electrek writes that Tesla may have scrapped the rollout of the Steams service in new cars because the brand has discovered that only a few Tesla owners actually use the function for anything.

However, it is likely that Tesla's decision, which is therefore not accompanied by any official explanation, will disappoint some prospective Tesla owners. But Tesla has far bigger problems to contend with.

Among other things, when it comes to the car brand's alleged self-cleaning technology. In this connection, a judge at the federal level in the United States has approved a class action against Tesla. Read more about it here .

On the other hand, there are car brands that are in much bigger trouble than Tesla. Danish Henrik Fisker had to see his car business close in Denmark this week. Just three days for Fisker Inc. says it will seek bankruptcy protection. Something that has already happened in Austria, for example.
