This 20-year-old BMW M3 is so rare that people are willing to pay more for it than what a new one would cost.
Many BMW 3 series have been built over time. And in itself, the top model M3 is no rarity, not even when it comes to the E46 generation. A total of 86,000 M3s were produced.
But of the 86,000 cars, there are specially selected examples that only came into the world in a very limited number.
And that makes them extremely desirable, here 18 years after production stopped in 2006. The car here is from 2004, and not just that. The Laguna Seca blue Bimmer has only had one owner, as it was sold this year to a dealer in California.
And if you delve into the details, there is even more guf to come. The color combination of Laguna Seca blue paint and the caramel nappa leather is believed to only be on a total of 19 E46 M3s. Not 190, not 1,900 — 19 other cars! That is, on the North American market.

There is a probability that there are more cars with that combination of exterior and interior. But the number may just have to be counted on one or two hands.
The engine is, as we know it, a 3.2-liter straight six with 340 horsepower and 355 Nm. Compared to the current M3, the figure is pitiful. Still, people love the 20-year-old car.
You just have to take a look at the bidding round to see that. This article is published two days before the auction , which otherwise has no minimum bid, ends. But already now the highest bid has reached 111,000 dollars. This corresponds to 763,000 Danish kroner.
For comparison, in the USA you can pick up a brand new BMW M3, which today is only available with four doors, for 75,000 dollars, which is 516,000 kroner.
For the same reason, it will be interesting to follow where the price of the BMW from 2004 actually ends up. However, the car is far from the first for which the bidding round has gone mad. Read more about it here .
