Haas admits fault for huge Kevin Magnussen error

Kevin Magnussen is fighting for his future in Formula 1. But the Dane's performance during the Grand Prix in Italy has made an impression, admits team boss Ayao Komatsu.

Nico Hulkenberg has already told Haas and everyone else that from next season he will be a Sauber driver. The future of current teammate Kevin Magnussen, on the other hand, is not clear.

At least not yet. Not officially, that is. But the only Dane with a permanent seat in Formula 1 has nevertheless made an impression on the Haas management.

Team boss Ayao Komatsu had to admit that after the weekend's lob at the Imola track. The so-called Emilia-Romagna grand prix.

– I can't say much. But yes, of course he has to perform. But then again – a carousel like this (on the Imola circuit, ed.) was very, very impressive. Now Kevin must be able to get a whole weekend together.

However, Komatsu is also ready to make the Dane fashionable. Because it was the team's strategic mistake that cost K-Mag a point-giving position in the race.

The Dane finished in 12th place, but it was Haas' fault that he did not finish in 10th and last place in the race with points.

– Kevin started the race among the rear, had a good start and reasonable speed on medium tyres. We cut short and looked at the distance to Zhou Guanyu (Sauber, ed.). But we made a mistake with the pit stop lap.

– I am convinced that we could have got 10th place. Especially with Kevin. But we came a lap too late and ended up behind Zhou. It shouldn't have happened, says the team manager according to Speed City Boardcasting .

But even if Kevin Magnussen's seat at Haas is in jeopardy, Ayao Komatsu won't say anything about who else Haas might have to talk to. But it is certain that there will be at least one new face in the garage in 2025.
