Italy seizes 100 new Fiats – "they are illegal"

Fiat's new Topolino is not as Italian as the car brand claims. That is why the authorities in the country have seized over 100 new cars.

The Italian police have seized over 100 new Fiat Topolinos. According to the authorities, this is because the cars are not nearly as 'Italian' as Fiat otherwise claims.

This is written by several local media – i.a. the newspaper la Reupubblica .

The small Fiat Topolino is based on the same platform as the Citroën Ami, and it is, among other things, here, the chain jumps off for the car brand, the authorities believe.

For both cars – i.e. both the Citroën Ami and the sister Fiat Topolino – are assembled at Stellantis' factory in Morocco – specifically in the city of Kenitra.

Nevertheless, Fiat has equipped the small electric car with a tricolor in the colors of Italy, and this kind of thing is absolutely illegal for anything other than 'made in Italy'.

Thus, Fiat is the latest of two Stellantis brands that have recently caught the eye of the Italian authorities. Alfa Romeo has also made a fool of itself.

After just five days with the name 'Milano', the brand had to change the name of a new electric SUV because the government threatened arson, fire and lawsuits.

Even though Stellantis claims that the car was also developed and designed in Turin.Read more about it here .
