New EU requirement means the death of several car brands' models

It's about cyber security. Something that was not thought of just a few years ago. Therefore, several car brands now have to slim down their model range.

A new requirement for cyber security in all cars means that several car models from several car brands must suffer death.

For several cars it has actually already happened. This is written by Automobilwoche .

But what are the new cyber security requirements? Yes, it is tightening of security in new cars that may not make it impossible for hackers to get near them. But it gets harder.

The problem is just that the requirement for cyber security in all new cars is such a new invention on the part of the EU that the cars that are on the market now were developed without regard to that requirement.

The requirement was simply not discussed when the cars were developed. But there it is now. That is, someone who talks about it.

And therefore several cars from several car brands have to die. Porsche has already removed the gasoline-powered Macan from the model range. Otherwise, Porsche believed that the car could be sold within the EU alongside the new, electric version.

But the cyber security regulations put an effective stop to that. In other words, almost in England, which disregards the rules because it is now no longer part of the EU. English drivers also avoid another reviled EU rule. Read more about it here.

If Porsche chooses to blow the new rules, the EU will come after the brand from Zuffenhausen with gigantic stalls. Specifically, 30,000 euros, corresponding to 225,000 kroner per produced car.

Other cars in the VAG group are also outfitted in this way. This applies, for example, to the small Volkswagen Up!, the somewhat larger Volkswagen Transport T6.1.

The same has happened to the Audi TT, R8 and Audi A5. In the latter case, Audi says that it is about making room for a new generation of the model.
