The EU makes everything but electric cars impossible, says researcher

There is no way around electric cars. The EU makes everything but electricity too expensive, the researcher believes.

Right now, motorists' interest in electric cars is plummeting.

For example, sales of new electric cars in Germany fell by over 50 percent when the country's government removed all support for the car type in December last year.

But now a researcher believes that there is no way around electric cars. Everything other than electricity for electric cars – i.e. diesel and petrol – becomes so expensive that it is not worth refueling.

This is according to the transport researcher and head of the Center for Mobility Culture in Kassel, Helmut Holzapfel, according to Auto Bild .

In fact, Helmut Holzapfel believes that there is no alternative to electric cars at all. Here he points out that from 2027 the EU will impose a quota system on all fossil fuels. Here at home, the new quota system means, for example, that the price of a liter of petrol increases by more than DKK 1.

And Helmut Holzapfel believes that the upcoming quotas will trigger a 'shock among many motorists'. According to the researcher, the reason that so many motorists still drive around in petrol and diesel cars is that they are too poorly informed about electric cars.

Likewise, Helmut Holzapfel believes that the oil industry's lobbying organizations are spreading false news about electric cars.

The fact that the car industry is now starting to demand that the EU's ban on new diesel and petrol engines be withdrawn in 2035 is also a purely German phenomenon, the researcher believes.

Therefore, the researcher calls for both the car industry, business and politicians to drop all ideas about the internal combustion engine and support one hundred percent the electric car and only it. Because, according to the researcher, there is no way around the electric car in the long term.
