Ford continues boring record in 2024 with flawed cars

Ford has issued an average of more than 1.3 recalls per week through the first 19 weeks of 2024. However, the number of 25 is relatively small.

It may well be that Ford has regretted the goal of selling only electric cars in Europe in 2030 and has already scaled back production.

But there are actually Ford people who are very busy. Namely those who administer the car brand's recalls.

In just 19 weeks – or just under 4 months – the brand has recalled cars for 25 faults. That is more than 1.3 cases of failure per week.

However, some of the recalls are really small. Almost so small, in fact, that they should be able to be fixed with a few phone calls. Nevertheless, it is a completely official – and therefore public matter – when 9 cars are recalled because the factory got hold of the wrong stickers.

Others are of a far more serious nature. For example, Ford has recalled 1.9 million versions of the Explorer model because the brand believes there is a risk that some of the A-pillar could fly off.

That's what Motor1 writes.

On the other hand, Ford is far from the only car brand busy recalling cars. The American branch of the Stellantis group, FCA US, has almost as many recalls lying around.

21 recalls have been created for FCA US in the same period of time that Ford has spent creating 25 cases about possible defects on cars.

And while we're at it, last year Honda threw itself into a recall so huge that the brand fears going to market for spare parts. Read more about it here .

If we're going to round up Ford one more time, the 25 cases are an indication that the brand's quality control has been lagging behind tremendously recently.

Between 2021 and 2023, Ford was the car brand behind the absolute most recalls in the entire period. In 2022 alone, the brand had to inform motorists that their cars needed a workshop 68 times, and that alone in the USA.

At home, Ford is also plagued by problems. One of them is the oven icon rather mysterious. So far, only Danish copies of the Mustang Mach-E electric car are affected by the brake failure. However, Ford in Denmark will not really say anything about it. Read more about it here .
