Innocent motorist gets compensation for the police's embarrassing mistake

A taxi driver has received an apology from the police, who last year gave him a ticket and took his choir card.

An innocent motorist has received an apology from the police in Sweden, who last year took away the driver's license from the police.

The police had read a speed plate incorrectly. However, the driver, who worked as a taxi driver, lost his choir card.

This is written by SVT Nyheter .

All because the police thought he was going over 50 km/h in a 30-zone. However, the police did not know that this rule does not apply on Maundy Thursday.

Therefore, the state treasury must now fork out compensation for lost earnings to the taxi driver. Just like the police, they must be polite with an apology and return the choir card.

– I was very happy, because now I am not wrong, says the innocent driver to SVT.

It is not the first time that law enforcement has made horrendous mistakes in traffic. Here at home, an 80-year-old man has recently been acquitted of driving 60 km/h in a 50-zone in Odense.

The man initially refused to pay the fine, and in court the police ended up being defeated because of the signage.

In January, it also emerged that the police have made the same mistake that in 2019 meant that law enforcement had to cancel as many as 2,400 speeding tickets. Read more about it here .
