China brand pulls out of China completely and moves to Europe

The troubled Chinese brand Aiways is now leaving China to bet on a future in Europe. In Denmark, however, things are looking bad.

The Chinese car brand Aiways is leaving China.

Instead, the brand, which is trying to restart production, will move everything but production to its European headquarters in Munich, Germany.

That's what Autocar writes.

The Chinese already have a development department here. However, there hasn't been much to do in the last long while.

In a desperate attempt to raise money for operations, Aiways has not built cars since February 2023. Now, however, there may be news from that side. Read more about it here .

Aiways' new strategy involves continuing to import the cars from China, but the brand therefore believes that the competition is less fierce in our country.

– There are no plans to continue on the Chinese market because the price pressure and competition is so fierce there, a source from Aiways tells Autocar.

The car brand's assembly line is still running. But it is rumored that Aiways is 'close' to a factory restart. Having said that, the Chinese brand is absolutely no success here at home.

Of the 52,244 factory-new cars that were given Danish number plates between 1 January and 30 April 2024, just 37 are from Aiways. Even crisis-stricken Fisker, which is only a handful of days from bankruptcy, has sold more cars.
