The number of electric cars is falling in Europe – here is the replacement

The number of hybrid cars with petrol engines is on the rise, while fewer and fewer are buying a new electric car, new figures show.

April generally made up for an increase in car sales in Scandinavia. But if we include the whole of Europe, it goes back to electric cars and forward to hybrids.

Motorists do not prefer electric cars but the hybrids with petrol engines. This is shown by the latest sales figures across Europe.

And now more car factories are following the consumers. Most recently, Ford, for example, dropped the idea of only selling electric cars within the EU in 2030.

Mercedes has also dropped the tank. The same notes come from a string of competitors. However, there are also car brands that have not wanted to put an expiry date on the internal combustion engine at all. Read more about it here .

If we go back a little further – i.e. to the month of March – the number of hybrids increased by almost 13 percent. Just as the car type went from a market share of 24.4 to 29 percent.

At the same time, the number of newly registered electric cars fell by 5 percent compared to the same month last year. This is shown by figures from the industry association Acea.

Here at home, it is especially the plug-in hybrids – i.e. those with a cable – that entice motorists. Ford still leads that race with the Kuga model. But Volkswagen is surprised that motorists are now turning to that type of car. Read more about it here .
